We produce hyaluronic acid from birth. It is the molecule responsible for retaining moisture in our skin. As we age, production diminishes, by the time we are 40 we are only producing 50% of the hyaluronic acid we had in our youth, and by 60, production is as low as 10%. As a result our skin becomes thinner and lines and wrinkles begin to appear.
The hyaluronic acid molecule is too large to be absorbed via the skin, so up until now it has been injected into lines and wrinkles and is commonly used as a filler. Fillers sit under the dermis like a cushion but do not actually work with the skin to actively promote rejuvenation. Thanks to nano technology, it is now possible to break down the hyaluronic acid molecule into its smaller components, encapsulate these fragments and place them in a gel which can be absorbed through the skin. Then using a cold laser the gel is pushed deep into the dermis, the encapsulation is broken, and the fragments are reconstituted into the original hyaluronic acid molecules. These work with hyaluronic acid already present in the skin, acting like a cellular sponge to absorb water, plump out the skin and reduce lines and wrinkles.
The treatment feels like a luxurious facial, beginning with a full cleanse and exfoliation, followed by the warm infusion of the gel using the laser and ending with a cryogenic face mask. Each session lasts 90 minutes, and a course of 6 treatments, twice weekly for three weeks can give you effects which can last up to 12 months. As well as full face treatments, it is possible to tailor the treatments to concentrate just on the eyes or mouth areas, neck, decolletage or hands.
